Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before cleaning internal sensor contacts.
- Locate moisture sensors: On many Montpellier dryers, two metal strips are located inside the drum near the lint filter opening.
- Clean sensor bars: Using a soft cloth and white vinegar or mild detergent, thoroughly clean the metal strips to remove fabric softener residue and lint. Dry completely.
- Check for damage: Inspect the bars for deep scratches or corrosion. If damaged, they may need replacement.
- Inspect wiring (if accessible): From the front or rear (depending on model), locate the sensor wiring and ensure connectors are secure.
- Test operation: Restore power and run an automatic program with a damp load. If E09 reappears, the sensor circuit on the PCB may be faulty and require professional repair.
