Possible Causes
Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Damaged door wiring harness at hinge area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer from the mains before any disassembly. Do not bypass the door switch for operation.
Step-by-step checks:
- Inspect the door closure: Open and close the door firmly. Check that the latch hook on the door engages fully with the catch on the cabinet. If the door feels loose or does not click, the latch or strike may be worn.
- Check the door switch actuator: With the door open, locate the small plastic pin or lever that presses the door switch. If it is cracked or missing, the switch will not be activated.
- Test the door switch: Remove the top panel or front panel (depending on model) to access the door interlock switch. Disconnect the dryer from power, then remove the switch connector. Use a multimeter in continuity mode and press the switch actuator. It should show continuity when pressed and open circuit when released. Replace if readings are inconsistent.
- Inspect wiring: Check the wiring harness from the door switch to the main control PCB for pinched, broken, or burned wires, especially near the door hinge area.
- Reset and test: Reassemble, plug the dryer back in, close the door firmly, and try to start a cycle.
When to call a technician: If the door switch tests good but E01 persists, the fault may be on the main control board input circuit.
