Possible Causes
Worn or torn front or rear drum felt seal, Sharp edges on damaged drum baffles, Foreign object trapped in drum holes or seal, Rust spots inside drum
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before inspecting the drum interior with tools.
- Inspect drum interior: Run your hand gently around the inside of the drum (carefully) to feel for sharp edges, burrs, or protruding screws. Smooth minor burrs with fine emery paper.
- Check drum baffles: Inspect the plastic or metal lifters inside the drum. Tighten loose screws and replace cracked or broken baffles.
- Inspect drum seals: Look at the front and rear felt seals for gaps, burns, or missing sections. Replace seals that are worn or damaged.
- Check for foreign objects: Look in the drum holes and around the seal area for bra wires, pins, or other sharp objects and remove them.
- Test with old towels: After repairs, run a cycle with old towels to confirm no further marking or snagging occurs before drying delicate items.
