Possible Causes
Failed heating element, Tripped manual-reset thermal cut-out, Open cycling thermostat, Loose heater wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Rangemaster dryer and allow it to cool completely before working near the heater.
- Check simple airflow issues first: Clean the lint filter and condenser (if fitted). Blocked airflow can cause overheating and trip safety devices.
- Access heater assembly: Remove the rear panel to expose the heater housing. Note the wiring layout or take a photo before disconnecting anything.
- Reset thermal cut-out: If your model has a manual-reset thermostat on the heater housing, press the small reset button. If it clicks and resets, reassemble and test. If it trips again, investigate airflow and heater condition.
- Test heater and thermostats: Disconnect the heater and thermostats and measure continuity with a multimeter. Replace any component that reads open circuit.
- Inspect connectors: Ensure all spade terminals are tight and free from burning. Replace any overheated connectors and repair damaged wiring.
