Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Damaged door harness connector on front panel, Faulty main control PCB door-sense input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Rangemaster dryer from the mains before removing any panels. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the machine is powered.

  • Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no laundry is trapped in the seal and that the door feels solid when latched.
  • Inspect door latch hook: Look at the metal or plastic latch hook on the door. If it is bent, cracked, or loose, it may not engage the interlock. Tighten mounting screws or replace the latch hook if damaged.
  • Test door interlock switch: Remove the top cover (usually rear screws, slide back and lift). Access the door interlock from the front panel edge. Disconnect the dryer from power, then unplug the interlock connector. Using a multimeter, check continuity between the common and closed terminals when the door is latched. Replace the door interlock assembly if it does not switch correctly.
  • Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the door interlock to the main control PCB for pinched, burnt, or broken wires. Reseat the connector on the control board.
  • Reset power: After any repair, reconnect power and try a short timed cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
