Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter, Blocked condenser unit or heat exchanger, Obstructed exhaust duct or wall vent, Overheating detected by exhaust NTC sensor or thermal cut-out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from the mains before cleaning internal components. Surfaces may be hot immediately after use.
- Clean lint filter: Remove the lint filter from the door opening. Thoroughly remove lint with your hand or a soft brush. Wash with warm water and mild detergent if coated with fabric softener residue. Dry completely before refitting.
- Clean condenser/heat exchanger (if condenser or heat pump model): Open the lower front flap. Remove the condenser cassette. Rinse under running water from the rear side until water runs clear. Allow to drain and dry, then reinstall securely.
- Check exhaust duct (if vented model): Inspect the flexible hose from the dryer to the wall. Straighten kinks, remove crushed sections, and clear lint buildup. Check the external wall flap for obstructions (lint, nests, debris).
- Inspect air intake grilles: Vacuum any dust from intake grilles at the front or rear of the cabinet.
- Reset thermal cut-out (if fitted and accessible): Some Rangemaster dryers have a manual-reset thermostat on the heater housing. With power disconnected, remove the rear panel and press the small red button on the thermostat if popped. If it trips repeatedly, investigate airflow and heater faults before further use.
