Possible Causes

Blocked lint filter or condenser, Failed or stuck-closed cycling thermostat, Faulty exhaust or drum NTC temperature sensor, Restricted exhaust duct causing overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool completely before inspection. Do not operate the dryer with covers removed.

  • Clean airflow path: Remove and clean the lint filter. If condenser type, remove and wash the condenser unit. For vented models, inspect and clean the exhaust hose and wall vent.
  • Check ambient installation: Ensure the dryer has adequate clearance around it and is not installed in a confined, unventilated space that traps heat.
  • Inspect thermostats and sensors: Remove the rear panel to access the heater housing. Check the cycling thermostat and high-limit thermostat for secure mounting and good contact with the metal surface. Test for continuity with a multimeter. Replace any thermostat that is open at room temperature (unless it is a manual-reset type that has tripped).
  • Check NTC sensor: Locate the NTC temperature sensor (often on the exhaust duct or front bulkhead). Measure its resistance at room temperature and compare with service data if available. A sensor reading open or shorted should be replaced.
  • Reset and test: After cleaning and replacing any faulty parts, reassemble the dryer, restore power, and run a short cycle while monitoring for excessive heat or recurrence of E05.
