Possible Causes

Open-circuit NTC sensor, Shorted NTC sensor, Loose or corroded NTC connector, Damaged wiring between NTC and main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from the mains before accessing internal components.

  • Locate NTC sensor: On many Rangemaster dryers, the NTC is mounted on the exhaust duct, heater housing, or front bulkhead inside the drum cavity.
  • Inspect wiring and connector: Check that the NTC plug is firmly seated on the sensor and that the harness is not pinched or damaged.
  • Test NTC resistance: Disconnect the NTC and measure its resistance at room temperature. Typical values are in the tens of kilo-ohms (refer to service data if available). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a faulty sensor.
  • Check for moisture or corrosion: If the sensor is in a humid area, ensure there is no corrosion on the terminals. Clean lightly if needed and refit.
  • Replace NTC sensor: If readings are out of range, replace the NTC sensor with a compatible Rangemaster part and clear the error by disconnecting power for a few minutes.
