How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Electronic boards can carry stored charge; avoid touching components unnecessarily.
- Check supply voltage: Confirm that the wall outlet is supplying correct voltage and that the dryer plug and cord are undamaged.
- Inspect internal wiring: Remove the top cover and visually inspect the main control PCB area for burnt smells, scorched components, or melted connectors.
- Check loads for shorts: Before replacing the PCB, disconnect the heater and motor connectors and test their resistance. A dead short may have damaged the board and must be corrected first.
- Examine relays: If accessible, inspect the heater and motor relays on the PCB for signs of overheating. However, relay replacement usually requires full PCB replacement on Rangemaster dryers.
- Replace main control PCB: If visible damage is present or all other components test correctly, replace the main control PCB with the exact Rangemaster part number. Transfer any wiring connectors one by one to avoid misconnection.
