Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between user interface and main PCB, Faulty user interface PCB, Damaged control knob encoder, Firmware communication error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from the mains before removing the control panel or top cover.
- Power reset: Leave the dryer unplugged for at least 5 minutes to allow the electronics to fully discharge, then reconnect and check if the error clears.
- Inspect control connections: Remove the top cover and gently pull the control panel forward. Check the ribbon cable and connectors between the user interface and main PCB. Reseat all connectors firmly.
- Check for moisture or corrosion: Look for signs of moisture ingress or corrosion on the control board. If present, the user interface PCB may need replacement.
- Test control knob/buttons: Rotate the program selector and press buttons to ensure they move freely and are not stuck. A jammed encoder or button can cause communication errors.
- Replace user interface PCB: If wiring is sound and E12 persists, replace the user interface PCB with the correct Rangemaster part, transferring any fascia or knobs as required.
