Possible Causes
Open heating element, Blown high-limit thermostat, Open thermal cut-off fuse, Loose heater wiring or connector on heater housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. Heating components carry high voltage and can remain hot after use.
- Check airflow first: Before opening the dryer, clean the lint filter and verify the exhaust duct is not crushed or blocked. Poor airflow can cause overheating and blown fuses.
- Access heater assembly: On many Samsung electric dryers, remove the rear panel to access the heater housing. Locate the heating element, high-limit thermostat, and thermal cut-off.
- Test continuity: With a multimeter, test the heating element terminals for continuity. An open reading indicates a failed element. Test the thermal cut-off and high-limit thermostat; they should read closed (near 0 ohms).
- Inspect wiring: Check for burnt connectors or loose spade terminals on the heater assembly and at the main PCB heater relay.
- Replace failed parts: Replace the Samsung heating element assembly and any open thermal fuse/thermostat. Always address vent restrictions to prevent repeat failure.
Warning: Never bypass thermal fuses or thermostats; this is a fire hazard.
