Dryer door opens during cycle or does not stay closed

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before adjusting hinges or locks.

• Inspect door catch and strike: Check the plastic or metal parts that hold the door closed. Replace any that are cracked or worn.
• Tighten hinges: Tighten hinge screws on the door and cabinet. Adjust the door so it aligns squarely with the opening.
• Test closure: Close the door and ensure it latches firmly with a clear click. If it still pops open, replace the latch and strike as a set.
• Check lock assembly: If the mechanical parts are fine but the door still opens, the lock assembly may not hold properly and should be replaced.
