Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Seized drum support rollers, Worn idler pulley, Faulty motor start capacitor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing panels.
- Check drum by hand: Open the door and try to rotate the drum. If it spins very freely with no resistance, the belt may be broken. If it is very stiff, a roller or bearing may be seized.
- Inspect belt: Remove the top and rear panel to view the belt. Replace if broken, frayed, or off the pulleys.
- Check rollers and idler: Spin each drum support roller and the idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, rough, or seized.
- Test motor capacitor: If the belt and rollers are fine but the motor only hums, test and replace the motor start/run capacitor.
