Possible Causes

Heavy lint build-up near heater, Blocked exhaust duct, Failing motor overheating, Foreign object contacting heater

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately stop the dryer, unplug it, and do not use it until inspected. Risk of fire.

  • Clean lint thoroughly: Remove lint filter and condenser (if fitted). Vacuum lint from the filter housing, heater area, and internal ducts using a narrow nozzle.
  • Check exhaust duct: For vented Siemens dryers, remove and clean the entire exhaust hose and wall vent.
  • Inspect heater area: Remove the rear panel and inspect around the heater for lint build-up or foreign objects. Remove any debris.
  • Check motor: Smell near the motor area. If the motor housing is discolored or has a strong burnt odor, the motor may be failing and should be replaced.
  • Test carefully: After cleaning, run a short cycle under supervision. If smell persists, discontinue use and seek professional service.
