Dryer leaves black or brown marks on clothes

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before internal inspection.

• Inspect drum seals: Look at the front and rear drum edges for worn or torn felt seals. Replace seals that are damaged.
• Check for grease or rust: Examine the inside of the drum for grease streaks or rust spots. Clean with a mild cleaner; replace the drum if heavily damaged.
• Inspect bearings and rollers: Worn bearings can release grease into the drum area. Replace worn bearings or rollers.
• Test with old towels: After repairs, run a cycle with old towels to ensure no further staining before drying good clothes.
