Possible Causes
Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Damaged door lock wiring harness, Faulty main control module (power electronics)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no laundry is trapped in the door seal and that the door clicks positively when closed.
- Inspect door latch hook: Examine the metal or plastic latch on the door of your Siemens dryer. If it is bent, cracked, or loose, it may not engage the door switch. Replace the latch if damaged.
- Test door switch: With power disconnected, remove the front panel or top (depending on model) to access the door interlock switch. Check that the actuator lever moves freely. Use a multimeter to test continuity across the switch terminals when the door is closed. Replace the door lock/door switch assembly if it does not show continuity.
- Check wiring: Inspect the wiring harness from the door lock to the main control module for loose connectors, corrosion, or broken wires. Reseat any loose plugs firmly.
- Reset power: After checks, reconnect power and try again. If E01 persists despite a good door lock and wiring, the main control module may be faulty and professional diagnosis is recommended.
