Possible Causes
Defective NTC sensor in drum air path, Loose or corroded NTC connector, Damaged wiring harness between NTC and control module, Faulty main control module analog input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal components.
- Locate the NTC sensor: On Siemens dryers, an NTC is typically mounted in the front bulkhead, exhaust duct, or near the heater. Refer to your model’s layout.
- Check connections: Inspect the NTC plug and wiring for corrosion, loose fit, or damage. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Measure NTC resistance: Disconnect the NTC and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare with Siemens service specifications (commonly in the tens of kΩ range). If reading is open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace the NTC sensor.
- Inspect harness to control: Follow the cable from the NTC to the main control module. Look for pinched, cut, or burnt wires. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board check: If a known-good NTC and wiring still produce E05, the main control module may be defective and should be tested or replaced by a professional.
