Possible Causes

Blocked condensate pump, Failed condensate pump motor, Blocked condensate hose or sump, Faulty water level float switch or sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.

  • Empty water tank: Remove and empty the condensate water tank. Ensure it is seated correctly when reinserted.
  • Clean pump area: On Siemens condenser and heat pump dryers, access the pump compartment (usually behind the condenser flap or lower front panel). Remove lint, debris, and standing water from the sump.
  • Check pump filter and hoses: Some models have a small filter or mesh near the pump intake. Clean it thoroughly. Inspect the small hoses from the sump to the tank for kinks or blockages.
  • Test pump operation: With panels reinstalled and power restored, start a cycle and listen for the pump running when water is present. If the pump is silent or just hums, it may be seized or burned out and should be replaced.
  • Inspect float switch: Locate the float or water level sensor in the sump. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck by lint. Clean and test continuity if it is a mechanical switch.
