Possible Causes
Shorted heater element, Shorted motor windings, Damaged wiring harness causing short to chassis, Faulty power module current sensing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker and unplug the dryer. Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips.
- Visual inspection: Remove rear and top panels. Look for burnt wires, melted connectors, or scorch marks around the heater, motor, and harness.
- Test heater for shorts: Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance between each terminal and chassis ground. Any continuity indicates a shorted heater that must be replaced.
- Check motor windings: Disconnect the motor and test resistance between windings and to ground. Replace the motor if shorted.
- Inspect harness routing: Ensure wires are not pinched between panels or rubbing on sharp edges. Repair or replace damaged sections.
- Module check: If all loads and wiring are good, the power module’s current sensing circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
