Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drum belt, Seized drum support rollers, Seized idler pulley, Foreign object jammed between drum and cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing any panels. Avoid placing hands near the motor or belt path when power is connected.
- Check drum rotation by hand: Open the door and try to rotate the drum. If it is very stiff or jammed, suspect a mechanical obstruction or seized bearing.
- Inspect belt: Remove the top cover and look for a loose or broken belt. If the belt is off the drum or broken, replace it.
- Check rollers and idler: Access the drum support rollers and idler pulley. Spin each by hand; replace any that are noisy, rough, or seized.
- Look for obstructions: Inspect the gap between the drum and front/rear bulkheads for trapped items (e.g., bra wires, coins). Remove any foreign objects.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing worn parts and clearing obstructions, reassemble and run a test cycle to confirm normal drum rotation.
