Possible Causes
Dry or worn idler pulley bearing, Worn drum support rollers, Worn front or rear drum bearing, Belt rubbing on misaligned pulley
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal moving parts.
- Isolate the source: Remove the top cover and briefly run the dryer (if safe) to localize the noise. Then disconnect power before touching anything.
- Inspect idler pulley: Spin the idler pulley by hand. If it squeaks or feels rough, replace the idler pulley assembly.
- Check drum rollers: Rotate each roller. Replace any that squeal or have excessive play.
- Examine drum bearings: On models with a rear drum bearing or front bearing ring, inspect for wear or scoring. Replace the bearing kit if worn.
- Check belt alignment: Ensure the belt runs centrally on the pulleys and is not rubbing against the cabinet. Correct routing if necessary.
