Possible Causes
Severely clogged lint filter, Blocked condenser unit (condenser/heat pump models), Blocked exhaust duct (vented models), Blocked internal air channels with lint
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing panels or internal ducts. Inhalation of fine lint dust should be minimized; consider wearing a dust mask.
- Clean lint filter: Remove the lint filter and clean it thoroughly under running water if necessary. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- Clean condenser: For condenser or heat pump SMEG dryers, remove the condenser from the lower front compartment. Rinse with warm water until clear and free of lint. Allow to dry.
- Check exhaust duct (vented models): Disconnect the exhaust hose and inspect for lint buildup or crushed sections. Clean or replace the hose and ensure the wall vent flap moves freely.
- Inspect internal ducts: Remove rear or side panels to access internal air channels. Vacuum out lint deposits, especially around the blower housing and heater duct.
- Reset and test: After cleaning, reconnect power and run a timed cycle to confirm normal airflow and that E12 is cleared.
