Possible Causes
Motor overheating due to heavy load, Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Blocked drum causing high torque, Motor bearings worn or seizing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains power and allow it to cool before inspecting the motor or drum.
- Reduce load: Remove some items from the drum and try a smaller load. Overloading can trigger motor protection.
- Check drum for obstructions: Rotate the drum by hand to ensure it moves freely. Listen for scraping or grinding that may indicate foreign objects or bearing issues.
- Inspect motor and tachometer: Access the motor from the rear or bottom. Look for a small tachometer sensor on the motor shaft. Ensure it is securely mounted and its wiring is intact.
- Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across motor windings. Compare to specifications. If windings are out of range or shorted to ground, replace the motor.
- Allow cooling and reset: If the motor was overheated, allow it to cool fully, then reconnect power and test. Persistent E15 after cooling suggests a component fault.
