Possible Causes
Faulty outlet NTC sensor, Loose sensor mounting in exhaust duct, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Control board analog input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool before working near the exhaust duct or heater.
- Locate outlet sensor: Access the exhaust duct (rear or internal) and locate the NTC sensor positioned near the outlet air path.
- Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped or screwed into place and is in direct contact with the airflow.
- Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to SMEG specifications. Replace if out of range or if resistance does not change when gently warmed.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the harness from the sensor to the control board, checking for cuts, burns, or loose connectors. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are good, the control board input may be faulty. Replacement of the main PCB may be required.
