Possible Causes
Broken drive belt, Seized idler pulley, Seized drum roller, Weak motor start winding
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer immediately; do not let the motor hum for long periods as it can overheat.
- Check drum movement: Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it spins freely, the belt may be broken. If it is hard to turn, a roller or idler may be seized.
- Inspect belt and pulleys: Remove the front panel and check the belt, idler pulley, and rollers. Replace any broken or seized components.
- Test motor: After freeing the drum, if the motor still only hums and will not start, the motor may be weak and require replacement.
