Possible Causes
Defective door switch, Broken door latch, Loose wiring to door switch, Misaligned door strike
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before any disassembly.
This error usually indicates the control does not detect the door as closed.
- Check the door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Make sure nothing is trapped in the door seal and that the door clicks shut.
- Inspect the door latch and strike: Look at the plastic/metal strike on the door and the latch on the cabinet. If cracked, bent, or loose, tighten screws or replace the damaged part.
- Test the door switch: With power disconnected, remove the top or front panel (depending on model) to access the door switch. Disconnect the wires and test the switch with a multimeter for continuity when the button is pressed. Replace if open-circuit.
- Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the door switch to the main control board for loose connectors, burnt pins, or damaged insulation. Reseat connectors firmly.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power and try starting a cycle. If E01 persists after replacing the switch and checking wiring, the main control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a technician.
