Possible Causes
Open heating element, Failed high-limit thermostat, Failed thermal cut-out, Loose or burnt heater wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and, for electric models, verify the breaker is off. Heating components can retain heat after shutdown.
- Confirm power supply: For electric dryers, verify the double-pole breaker is not tripped and that you have full 240V at the outlet. A lost leg can cause no heat without other errors.
- Access the heater assembly: Remove the rear panel (or lower front panel on some Stoves models) to access the heater housing.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burnt connectors or loose spade terminals on the heater, thermostats, and thermal cut-out. Repair or replace damaged terminals.
- Test the heating element: Disconnect the element leads and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical element will show low resistance (e.g., 8–20Ω). If open (infinite resistance), replace the element.
- Check thermostats and thermal cut-out: Test the high-limit thermostat and thermal cut-out for continuity at room temperature. Any open device must be replaced, and the cause of overheating (usually blocked vent) corrected.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty parts, reassemble panels, restore power, and run a heating cycle to confirm normal operation and that E03 is cleared.
