Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Disconnected moisture sensor wiring, Failed moisture sensor, Faulty main control board input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Locate the moisture sensor bars: On most Stoves dryers, the sensor bars are inside the drum near the lint filter housing or on the front bulkhead.
- Clean the sensor bars: Use a soft cloth with warm water and mild detergent or white vinegar to scrub off any residue from fabric softener or dryer sheets. Dry thoroughly.
- Check wiring connections: Remove the front lower panel or top panel (depending on model) to access the sensor harness. Ensure the connectors are firmly seated on the sensor and at the control board.
- Test the sensor: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance across the bars while touching them with a damp cloth; resistance should change. If it remains open or erratic, replace the sensor assembly.
- Use timed dry as a workaround: Until the sensor system is repaired, you can use a timed dry cycle to dry clothes, but monitor to avoid overdrying.
