Possible Causes

Blocked lint passages, Failed or weak motor causing overheating, Faulty cycling thermostat, Restricted exhaust vent

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dryer to cool completely before working on it.

  • Clean internal lint buildup: Remove the lint filter, front panel, and blower housing cover. Vacuum lint from the blower, heater housing, and internal ducts.
  • Inspect the exhaust vent system: As with airflow errors, ensure the vent hose and wall duct are clear and not crushed. Clean thoroughly.
  • Check the cycling thermostat: Access the thermostat on the blower housing or exhaust duct. Test for continuity at room temperature and compare switching temperatures if you have a service manual. Replace if stuck closed or open.
  • Verify motor cooling: Ensure the motor cooling fan (if separate) is intact and that the motor vents are not clogged with lint. A motor that overheats and trips its internal protector may need replacement.
  • Reset and test: After cleaning and any part replacement, reassemble, restore power, and run a medium-heat cycle with a small load to confirm E06 does not reappear.
