Possible Causes

Failed igniter, Faulty gas valve coils, Defective flame sensor, Blocked burner orifice

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off gas supply at the shutoff valve and unplug the dryer. Working with gas components can be hazardous; if you smell gas, ventilate the area and contact a professional immediately.

  • Access the burner assembly: Remove the lower front panel or front panel to view the burner, igniter, and flame sensor.
  • Observe ignition sequence (if safe): Restore power and gas briefly, start a heat cycle, and watch through the burner view port. If the igniter does not glow, or glows but no flame appears, note the behavior, then stop the cycle and disconnect power and gas again.
  • Test the igniter: Disconnect the igniter and measure resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed igniter that must be replaced. Handle carefully; it is fragile.
  • Check gas valve coils: If the igniter glows and then shuts off without flame, the gas valve coils may be weak. Replace the coil set as a pair.
  • Inspect flame sensor: Test the flame sensor for continuity at room temperature and for proper switching when heated (refer to service data). Replace if defective.
  • Reassemble and leak-check: After any gas component replacement, ensure all fittings are tight and check for leaks with a soapy water solution before full operation.
