Possible Causes

Failed exhaust thermistor, Loose thermistor wiring, Shorted thermistor harness, Faulty control board temperature circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the exhaust duct or control board.

  • Locate the thermistor: On most Stoves dryers, the exhaust thermistor is mounted on the blower housing or exhaust duct near the lint filter housing.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the thermistor connector and wiring harness for damage, loose pins, or signs of overheating. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Test thermistor resistance: Disconnect the thermistor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to the value in the service manual (commonly around 10kΩ at 25°C, but verify for your model). A reading far out of range indicates a bad thermistor.
  • Check for shorts: Inspect the harness from the thermistor to the control board for pinched or rubbed-through insulation that could cause a short.
  • Replace thermistor if faulty: Remove the mounting screw(s), swap in a new thermistor, and reconnect the harness. Clear the error by unplugging for a few minutes, then test a cycle.
