Possible Causes
Faulty drive motor, Open motor thermal protector, Defective motor capacitor, Loose motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing the motor compartment.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. If it moves freely, the motor is not being driven.
- Access motor: Remove the rear panel and belt to access the motor. Inspect for burnt smell or visible damage.
- Test capacitor: Discharge the motor capacitor safely, then measure its capacitance. Replace if out of specification.
- Check motor continuity: Measure resistance across motor windings. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Inspect connectors: Ensure the motor plug is fully seated on the motor and control board.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new motor or capacitor as needed, then reassemble and test.
