Possible Causes

Lint buildup on heater, Foreign object touching heater or drum, Blocked airflow, Failing motor or wiring overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Stop the dryer immediately, unplug it, and do not continue using it until the cause is found. Fire risk is present.

  • Inspect lint filter and ducts: Clean the lint filter, condenser, and all accessible ducts thoroughly.
  • Check heater area: Remove the rear panel and inspect the heater housing for lint accumulation or foreign objects. Vacuum carefully.
  • Look for burnt wiring: Inspect wiring around the heater, motor, and control board for melted insulation or burn marks. Replace damaged wiring and connectors.
  • Check motor: Smell near the motor area (when cool and unplugged). If the motor has a strong burnt odor or visible discoloration, it may be failing and should be replaced.
  • Test carefully: After cleaning and repairs, run a short supervised test. If any burning smell returns, disconnect and call a qualified technician.
