Possible Causes
Worn drum support rollers, Damaged rear drum bearing, Loose drum baffles, Foreign objects trapped in drum or seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before removing panels or reaching inside the drum area.
- Check load: Stop the dryer and redistribute the laundry. Large items like duvets can cause thumping if balled up.
- Inspect drum interior: Look for loose drum baffles (ribs) and tighten their screws from inside the drum if accessible.
- Access drum supports: Remove the top and front panels to inspect front felt seals and support rollers. Replace rollers that are flat-spotted, seized, or noisy.
- Check rear bearing: On models with a rear bearing, inspect for excessive play or grinding. Replace the rear bearing kit if worn.
- Remove foreign objects: Check between the drum and front panel for coins, buttons, or other items and remove them.
