Possible Causes
Dry or worn idler pulley, Worn drum support rollers, Drum rubbing on front felt seal, Misaligned drum
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the dryer from mains before servicing moving parts.
- Isolate the noise: Run the dryer briefly (plugged in) with an empty drum to confirm the noise source, then unplug before disassembly.
- Inspect idler pulley: Access the belt and idler pulley from the rear or front. Spin the pulley by hand; if it squeals or feels rough, replace it.
- Check drum rollers: Spin each roller by hand. Replace any that are noisy or stiff.
- Inspect felt seals: Examine the front and rear felt seals for wear or displacement. Replace if the drum is rubbing metal-to-metal.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing worn parts, reassemble and run a test cycle to confirm the noise is gone.
