E12
Teka Moisture Sensor / Conductivity Fault

Dryer shows E12; cycle may not start or may stop unexpectedly, often on sensor-dry programs

Possible Causes

Dirty or coated drum moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Faulty moisture sensor module, Poor grounding of drum

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer before accessing internal wiring. Cleaning the sensor bars can be done with the unit unplugged and door open.

  • Clean sensor bars: Locate the two metal strips inside the drum, usually near the lint filter opening. Clean them thoroughly with a soft cloth and a bit of white vinegar or mild detergent to remove fabric softener residue.
  • Check for damage: Inspect the sensor bars for deep scratches or corrosion. Replace if heavily worn.
  • Inspect wiring: Access the area behind the sensor bars (often from the front lower panel) and check that the wires are firmly attached and not broken.
  • Test on timed program: Try running a timed (non-sensor) drying program. If the dryer works normally without E12, the issue is likely limited to the moisture sensing circuit.
  • Replace sensor module if needed: If cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve E12, the moisture sensor module or main control board input may be faulty and should be replaced or tested by a technician.
