Possible Causes

Clogged lint screen, Blocked exhaust vent, Crushed or kinked vent hose, Lint buildup in blower housing

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the dryer before disconnecting the vent or removing panels.

  • Clean lint filter: Remove and clean the lint screen. Wash with warm soapy water if coated with residue, then dry completely.
  • Inspect vent hose: Pull the dryer out and check the vent hose for kinks, crushing, or excessive length. Shorten and straighten as needed.
  • Check wall and exterior vent: Disconnect the vent from the dryer and run a short cycle. If airflow at the dryer outlet is strong but weak at the exterior hood, the house vent is restricted and needs professional cleaning.
  • Clean internal ducts: Remove the rear or lower front panel and inspect the blower housing and internal ducts for lint buildup. Vacuum thoroughly.
  • Reassemble and test: Reconnect venting, restore power, and run a load to confirm improved drying and that the AF indicator does not reappear.
