Possible Causes
Shorted exhaust thermistor, Thermistor wires shorted together, Moisture or contamination across thermistor terminals, Failed main control sensing circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before removing panels or testing components.
- Access thermistor: Remove the rear or lower front panel to reach the blower housing where the exhaust thermistor is mounted.
- Visual inspection: Check for lint buildup, moisture, or melted plastic around the thermistor that could cause a short.
- Resistance test: Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. A reading near 0 ohms indicates a shorted thermistor.
- Check harness: Inspect the two-wire harness for bare spots or pinched sections where the wires may be touching.
- Replace thermistor: If shorted or out of range, install a new Whirlpool exhaust thermistor. Ensure it is mounted correctly and not contacting metal surfaces improperly.
- Control board check: If a known-good thermistor and harness are installed but F25 persists, the main control board may have a failed sensor input and require replacement.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall panels, restore power, and run a test cycle to verify normal heating and that the error is cleared.
