Possible Causes

Clogged lint screen, Blocked exhaust vent, Kinked vent hose, Overheating causing thermistor to read out of range

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power before moving the dryer or removing panels. Hot surfaces may be present.

  • Clean lint screen: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter. Wash with warm soapy water if coated with fabric softener residue, then dry completely.
  • Inspect vent hose: Pull the dryer away from the wall and inspect the flexible vent hose for kinks, crushing, or lint buildup. Clean or replace as needed.
  • Check wall and exterior vent: Disconnect the vent from the dryer and run a short cycle. If the error does not return with the vent disconnected, the house vent is likely restricted. Clean the entire vent run to the outside.
  • Inspect blower housing: Remove the rear or lower front panel and check the blower housing and internal ducts for lint clogs.
  • Thermistor check: If airflow is good but F30 persists, test the exhaust thermistor resistance at room temperature and compare to Whirlpool specifications. Replace if out of range.
  • Reassemble and test: Reconnect venting, restore power, and run a timed dry cycle with a load to confirm normal operation.
