Possible Causes

Shorted temperature sensor leads, Moisture inside sensor connector, Failed RTD temperature sensor probe, Control board misreading sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and let the smoker cool fully before working on it.

Steps to address E2:

  • Inspect for moisture: Check the rear sensor connector and the inside probe area for moisture or grease buildup. Dry thoroughly and clean with a soft cloth. Avoid soaking the connector.
  • Check sensor wiring: Look for pinched or melted sensor wires touching each other or the metal cabinet, which can cause a short. Separate and re‑insulate any damaged sections with high‑temperature electrical tape or replace the sensor.
  • Test sensor resistance: With the sensor disconnected from the control board, use a multimeter to measure resistance across the sensor leads. A reading near zero ohms or not changing with temperature indicates a shorted or failed sensor.
  • Replace the RTD sensor: If testing confirms a bad sensor, install a new Bradley temperature sensor probe and route the cable away from hot or sharp areas.
  • Inspect control board: If a known‑good sensor still triggers E2, the control board’s sensor circuit may be faulty and the control box may need replacement.
