Possible Causes
Incorrect sensor type or wiring, Control board firmware fault, Damaged control board temperature input circuit, Poor connection between sensor and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker before opening the control box or accessing wiring.
Steps to troubleshoot E3:
- Verify correct sensor: Ensure the installed temperature sensor is the correct Bradley RTD probe for your model. Using a non‑OEM or wrong type sensor can cause range errors.
- Check all sensor connections: Remove the control box, locate the sensor connector on the board, and ensure it is fully seated with no bent pins or corrosion.
- Inspect wiring harness: Follow the harness from the sensor to the control board. Look for splices, damage, or signs of overheating. Repair or replace the harness if needed.
- Power reset: With everything reconnected, plug the smoker back in and perform a full power reset (unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect) to clear transient faults.
- Replace control box: If E3 persists with a known‑good sensor and wiring, the control board is likely defective. Replace the complete Bradley digital control box assembly.
