Possible Causes

Failed bisquette advance motor, Jammed bisquette feed mechanism, Faulty motor driver circuit on smoke generator board, Broken motor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the smoker and smoke generator. Do not place fingers near the feed mechanism while powered.

Steps to address E8:

  • Check for mechanical jams: Remove the bisquette stack and inspect the feed chute and push plate for jammed or swollen bisquettes. Clear any obstructions and clean ash and debris.
  • Inspect motor wiring: Open the smoke generator housing and locate the bisquette advance motor. Ensure its wires are firmly connected and not burnt or broken.
  • Test motor operation: With the unit unplugged, try rotating the motor shaft or feed gear by hand. It should turn with some resistance but not be seized. A locked motor usually needs replacement.
  • Power test (advanced): With caution and proper insulation, a technician can apply low voltage directly to the motor to confirm it runs. If it does not, replace the motor.
  • Replace motor or generator: If the motor is faulty, replace the bisquette advance motor or the complete smoke generator assembly if the motor is not sold separately.
