Possible Causes

Unplugged cabinet temperature sensor, Broken sensor harness at cabinet penetration, Failed sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the smoker before inspecting wiring.

  • Check sensor plug: Access the control board and verify that the cabinet temperature sensor connector is firmly plugged into the board.
  • Inspect harness: Look where the sensor wire passes through the cabinet wall. If the insulation is cut or the wire is broken, repair with high‑temperature wire and connectors or replace the harness.
  • Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. If the reading is infinite or extremely high, the sensor is open and must be replaced.
  • Install new sensor: Remove the old sensor from inside the cabinet, pull the wire through, and install a new OEM Char‑Broil sensor. Reconnect to the board and reassemble.
