Possible Causes
Failed convection fan motor, Jammed fan blade due to grease buildup, Disconnected fan wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and ensure all components are cool before accessing the fan.
- Access the fan: Remove the rear or internal shroud panel to expose the circulation fan assembly.
- Check for obstructions: Spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. Remove any foil, food debris, or heavy grease buildup.
- Inspect wiring: Confirm that the fan motor connector is fully seated on the harness and that wires are not cut or burned.
- Test the motor: With the motor disconnected, measure resistance across the motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you have the skills and tools, you can also briefly power the motor with the correct voltage to confirm operation.
- Replace the fan motor: If the motor is seized or open, remove mounting screws, transfer the fan blade to the new OEM Char‑Broil fan motor, and reinstall. Ensure the blade is not rubbing on any shrouds.
