Meat Probe Temperature Sensor Error
Display shows ERR2 and heating stops mid‑cook

Possible Causes
Defective meat probe sensor, Damaged or pinched meat probe cable, Dirty or corroded meat probe jack on control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and let it cool before handling the probe or control panel.
- Remove and inspect the meat probe: Unplug the meat probe from the front control panel jack. Check the metal tip for damage and the cable for cuts, melted spots, or kinks.
- Clean the probe jack: Use a dry cotton swab to gently clean the probe jack on the control panel. Do not use water or cleaner inside the jack.
- Test with a multimeter: With the probe disconnected, measure resistance between the probe tip and sleeve. A typical NTC probe will show several kilo‑ohms at room temperature. An open circuit or short (0 ohms) indicates a bad probe.
- Try without the probe: Plug the smoker back in and power it on with the meat probe disconnected. If ERR2 disappears and the smoker heats normally, the probe is the likely cause.
- Replace the meat probe: Install a new OEM Char‑Broil meat probe compatible with your electric smoker model. Avoid submerging the probe head or cable in water; wipe clean after use.
