Char-Broil
Control Panel Child Lock / Key Lock Activated
Display shows LOC and buttons do not respond

Possible Causes
Child lock feature enabled via button combination, Stuck keypad button causing lock mode, User settings retained after power cycle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: This is a user interface feature, not an electrical fault. No internal panels need to be opened.
- Disable child lock: On many Char‑Broil electric smokers, press and hold the Timer and Temp buttons together for 3–5 seconds (or refer to your model's manual) until LOC disappears.
- Check for stuck buttons: Press each button firmly several times. If one feels stuck, gently work it free. Do not use excessive force or liquids.
- Power reset: Unplug the smoker for 1–2 minutes, then plug back in and check if LOC is cleared.
- Replace keypad if lock will not clear: If the lock icon remains and button combinations do not work, the keypad membrane may be shorted and the control panel assembly should be replaced.
