Possible Causes

Tripped household breaker, Faulty power cord or plug, Failed internal power supply on IQ controller, Loose wiring at terminal block

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Before opening any panels, unplug the smoker. Do not work on live circuits.

Steps:

  • 1. Check outlet and breaker: Plug a lamp or other appliance into the same outlet to confirm power. Reset the breaker or GFCI if tripped.
  • 2. Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, burns, or crushed sections. Wiggle the cord gently at the plug and where it enters the smoker; if the display flickers, the cord or strain relief may be damaged and should be replaced.
  • 3. Verify internal connections: Remove the rear or side panel to access the main terminal block (with power disconnected). Ensure all screws are tight and wires are secure.
  • 4. Check controller fuse (if equipped): Some IQ controllers have a small fuse on the board or in an inline holder. Replace with the exact same type and rating if blown.
  • 5. Controller replacement: If power is present at the controller input but the display remains dead, the IQ controller’s internal power supply has likely failed and the controller must be replaced.

Warning: If you see signs of melting, burning, or a burnt smell from the controller area, do not re-energize the smoker until it has been inspected by a professional.
