Cookshack
Control logic or interlock fault
Smoker powers on but will not start a cook cycle when START is pressed

Possible Causes
Door not fully closed or door switch open, Cook program not properly set, Faulty START button on IQ controller, Internal controller logic failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to bypass safety switches.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm program settings: Ensure you have set a valid temperature and time (and probe target if using a meat probe). Some controllers will not start with invalid or zero values.
- 2. Check door closure: Close the door firmly and listen for any click from the door switch. Try pressing START again.
- 3. Test door switch: If accessible, test the door switch with a multimeter for proper operation. Replace if faulty.
- 4. Inspect keypad: If the START button feels mushy or unresponsive compared to other keys, the keypad may be worn. Replacement of the controller or keypad overlay may be required.
- 5. Reset controller: Unplug the smoker for 5 minutes, then plug back in and reprogram the cook cycle.
