Possible Causes
Clogged drain hole or tube, Misaligned or overfilled drip pan, Damaged Cookshack door gasket, Smoker not level
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the smoker to cool before cleaning or adjusting. Grease can be very hot.
Steps:
- 1. Level the smoker: Use a level to ensure the smoker is slightly tilted toward the drain (if equipped). Adjust legs or place shims as needed.
- 2. Clean drain system: Locate the drain hole or tube and clear any clogs with a brush or pipe cleaner. Flush with hot water once cool.
- 3. Check drip pan: Make sure the Cookshack drip pan is correctly positioned under the drain and not overfilled. Empty it regularly during long cooks.
- 4. Inspect door gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections. Replace the gasket if it no longer seals properly.
