Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, Moisture or grease inside sensor connector, Sensor wire insulation melted against cabinet or heating element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the smoker and let it cool completely before inspection.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Locate the cabinet temperature sensor wiring inside the smoker body. Look for melted insulation or wires touching the metal cabinet or heating element bracket. Separate and re‑insulate any damaged sections with high‑temp heat‑shrink or replace the harness.
- Clean connectors: Disconnect the sensor plug from the control board. Wipe off any grease or moisture from the connector using a dry cloth. If needed, use a small amount of electrical contact cleaner and allow it to dry fully.
- Check resistance: Measure the sensor resistance at room temperature. If it reads near 0 Ω or extremely low compared to specifications, the sensor is shorted and must be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Reconnect the sensor, secure the wiring away from hot surfaces, plug the smoker back in, and power on. If E2 persists, replace the sensor with a Cuisinart‑approved part.
